Photographer wins $1.2M for his photos stolen from Twitter
If your photos are stolen don't take it lying down, even if you are up against big boys!

A photographer won $1.2 in damages from companies that took his photos off Twitter and used for commercial gains.

Photographer Daniel Morel took photos after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and posted them on his Twitter account. Agence France-Presse and Getty Images took those photos from Twitter without his consent and then sold them to newspapers around the world. Morel sued them and won $1.2 million for the unauthorized use of his photos.

So takeaway from this is if your photos are stolen, don't be afraid to go after the thieves. And it's better to watermark the photos so it becomes difficult for people to steal them.
